THE LOS PINOS RIVER
The Los Pinos River also referred to as the “Pine” is an outstanding tailwater fishery that runs from Vallecito Dam south into Navajo Lake. The entire stretch runs through private property and Southern Ute Indian Reservation except for a small section located in Bayfield CO. This is a highly sought-after river as it remains relatively wild with prolific hatches and trophy fish. Due to the exclusivity and high demand, we recommend booking at least 3 weeks in advance.
Our shop is fortunate to have access to the Pine along 2 private ranches. This river is one of the most scenic and beautiful sections of water we have the privilege to guide. Being mostly private with access limited to a few ranches the fishing is still quite challenging. With summer flows between 300 and 800 cfs the steep, quick gradient can make wading difficult at times.
Both sections of the river is rich with bug life and is home to an abundant population of trout. Browns, Rainbows and Cut-bows are common along the whole river with an average size of 10” to 18”. If you’re looking to slow the pace down, test your skills and enjoy spectacular scenery the Los Pinos is a unique SW Colorado fishery.
We do charge an additional $ 75 to $100 rod fee per person for our private water, but we promise, it’s money well spent!
